Welcome to the managers game for ice hockey.

eHockey!

eHockey is a web-based ice hockey game that is still under development.

In this game you become the team Manager, you are responsible for the growth of the Team, the Youth squad, the economy, the team staff infact you are responsible for the LOT!

To keep your eHockey team active you have to log in at least once every five weeks. There is no room for inactive coaches, so after five weeks of inactivity, teams will be deleted. Teams will be sent an e-mail reminder prior to their team being deleted.

Please understand that the game is constantly growing as we have over 50 General managers who oversee the "game" and make suggestions in a staff forum and chat area for future enhancements

The GM's are here to help in any way they can so please feel free to contact them. The best way to do this is through the Forum or by "eHmail" which is on your tool bar. Click the mail box go to new message use the GM's name as the address and complete the rest then send it. You should soon receive a reply.

Please check the main page and forum often to stay on top of any new changes.

The lineup

You can have up to 50 players on your team´s roster. For every game you must pick at least 17 players to play. You can set individual "offensive" or "defensive" tactical orders for each player.

Also, in the Lineup screen, you can pick a captain (someone with high Leadership is always a good idea ;).

Team lineup's are not set unless you have a red exclamation mark ( ! ) beside the game on the match table.

Finally, you can set what lines you want to play for each period. You can select all four lines to rotate, the top three lines, or just the top 2. Note that you must submit 17 players or three lines AT LEAST, or the system will make a lineup for you.

Although injuries are not ´activated´ yet, at some point in the future, your players will run the risk of injury during a match.
When an injury occurs, a player of the same position from next line will replace the injured player.

The League system

There are 12 teams in every league.( Premier, Div1a, Div1b Div1c. Div1a1 etc. etc.)
At the end of every season, the top team in each series has a chance to promote to the next higher divisions.
The bottom 3 teams are automatically relegated to the next lower division.
The 7th through 9th place teams must play qualification games, at home, against a team from the next lower series to remain in their original division.

Points
3 points for a victory (some countries has 2 points)
1 point for a tie
0 points for a loss

If your opponent fails to set his lines, a "walkover" victory is awarded. A walkover (WO) is considered a 5-0 victory, and the typical 2 points are awarded. Also, a team winning a WO game will receive training as if a regular game had been played.
If both teams fail to submit lineups, it’s considered a 0-0 tie, and 0 points are awarded.

Player tactics

You can give each player individual orders, either telling him to play more ´offensive´ or ´defensive´.

Setting a player to ´offensive´ will lower his defensive contribution and increase his offensive skill contribution by slightly less than his loss of defensive contribution.

Setting a player to ´defensive´ will lower his offensive contribution and increase his defensive skill contribution by slightly less than his loss of offensive contribution.

Players that haven’t played in a match in the latest week could suffer some form loss. They will also loose some skill in the face-off department.

The players

Every player has 8 basic skills which range between 1 and 20.
The skills are:

Stamina:
This represents the player´s physical conditioning. It determines how long the player can stay on the ice before changing lines. Stamina recovers while a player is not on the ice. Stamina is important for all players, except for goalies.

Shot:
This skill determines if a player with the puck will shoot or pass. The higher this skill is, the more likely a player is to shoot.
In general, a player is much more likely to shoot when he´s in the attacking zone.

Wing:
This skill is used by wingers only. The higher this skill is, the better a goal scorer the winger is. Once a winger shoots (see ´shot´, above), this skill determines his chance to score.

Scoring:
This skill is used by centers only. The higher this skill is, the better a goal scorer the center is. Once a center shoots (see ´shot´, above), this skill determines his chance to score.

Keeper:
This is the most important skill for Goalies, and the higher it is, the more effective a goaltender is. This skill is directly used to determine if a goalie stops a shot or not.

Offense:
This skill is used in the opponent’s zone and determines if your player keeps possession. This skill represents your player´s ability to make passes and move the puck up the ice, and determines how successfully you can move the puck further into the attacking zone.
Also, this skill is used by defensemen to determine their chance to score when and if they shoot the puck.

Defense:
This skill is used in your defensive zone, and determines if you take the puck away from your opponent. This is the major skill for defensemen, but it is also used by all of your players in the defensive half of the ice.

Offense and defense are the skills that determine puck possession in the game.

Face-off:
This skill is only used by your centers, and it is compared to the opposition´s center to see who wins a face-off. This skill increases very slowly over time by winning face-offs, and it deteriorates in a similar fashion by losing them.

Skill improvement:
The skills change very slowly over time with training.
To gain from training, the player has to play in matches. Younger players gain skills faster than older players. The gap between skill levels increases as the player´s skill increases, making it harder to get a player from 8 to 9, than it is to get that same player from 7 to 8.
When a player reaches the age of 30 he reaches his career peak, and can´t be trained to be any better.

Youth squad

This is one of the most important parts of your club´s future. Use what money you think you can afford, and be patient - it takes time to build a good youth squad. To attain maximum development of your youth squad, you have to invest at least € 80,000 each month. Note that the "percent to invest in youth" represents the percentage of your total monthly revenue to be spent on your youth squad. Since your monthly revenue increases over the course of the month, it´s a good idea to fine-tune your youth squad spending near the end of the month.

Once per week you get the chance to promote a player from your youth squad to your team. To do this, click "Administration", and then "crew". Then choose if you want to select a skater ("outfield") or a goalie. After that, choose one of the buttons from 1 to 10. One of the 10 choices will give an opportunity to get a better player than normally possible, given the quality of your youth squad. The highest level in one skill a youth player can have when promoted is 8.

Personnel

Just like real-life ice hockey clubs, your club needs personnel to manage all of the aspects of your team.

-Assistant coaches help speed up player training.
-Goaltending coaches help speed up the goalkeepers´ training.
-Lobbyists improve the mood of the sponsors, causing them to spend more on your team.
-Sport psychologists currently have no function. They are possibly going to be activated in the future. At the moment, there is no "team spirit" value for your team.(Not yet active)
-Janitors have not yet been implemented, but are planned for the future to keep the arena clean and in proper working order.(Not yet active)
-Masseurs help to prevent injuries. (Not yet active)
-Doctors help to speed the healing process when injuries occur.(Not yet active)

All personnel have a monthly salary of €6,500. Firing personnel costs €6,500 in severance fees. All personnel are paid their salary in advance, so any specialists hired during the month are paid until the end of that month.

(Hint.. Don't hire too many Specialists as only one can do the work)

Supporters - your supporters become happier when your team wins games. Also, more supporters will join your "fan club" as your team performs better.

Sponsors
- The happier your sponsors are, the more revenue you´ll receive from them. Hiring Lobbyists helps to improve the sponsors´ mood

Youth Squad - You can get an idea of how good your youth squad is here. The more supporters are satisfied, the better the youth squad. You need to invest at least € 80,000 per month to see any improvements in your youth squad. When all of your supporters are satisfied, the youth squad is at its maximum level.

Economy
Your club´s economy is an important part of the game, so keep track of your finances carefully.
If you get into debt of more than - € 500,000 at an Economic update (the first of the month) you’ll be forced to declare bankruptcy - causing you to lose your team without any warnings. You can´t bid if you are under -200.000. You go bankrupt if you are under -500.000 and you get one week to fix it after the warning. In such a case, you are welcome to apply for a new team.

Revenue from ticket sales is registered the day before the match because ticket sales end 24 hour before game time.

The Arena

The major source of revenue for your team comes from ticket sales for home games. Therefore, it is important to have an appropriately sized arena. To change the size of your arena, go to your team´s main page, and click "arena". Then input the number of seats you want to increase or decrease.
In the lower right corner you will see the charges required to construct the changes, before the construction is ordered.
When you are satisfied with the changes requested, click on the "order" button to finalize construction plans.

On every construction there is a fee of €30,000. Construction takes 7 days to complete.

Matches

IMPORTANT: You have to set the lines for your matches at least 24 hours before the match starts. The ´orders´ page will be locked 24 hours before the game.

Who gets trained for each type of training?
Positions in parentheses get less effect.

General: all players, helps form
Stamina: all players, lowers form
Defense: defenders (wingers and centers)
Scoring: centers
Offense: (all players) except goalies
Shots: all players except goalies
Wingplay: wingers
Face-off: centers
Goaltending: Goaltender
